Story - So I Wanna Be A Pilot !

B-747

You and me. Think of the dream that we've been wanting to be living on in our life. Me? My dream is, I WANNA BE A PILOT. Have we done something for our dream lately? How far are we willing to go for it? I'm sharing my passion and my story. The journey of a simple life. Starting from just a childhood dream into something that is so huge and important in my life. All my decision for this 27 years walking my path of life were made related to it. However, my dream is still a dream...for now.

Looking out from the cockpit, and telling myself, "This is my life". Someday...I will...

"Keep your dreams alive. Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication. Remember all things are possible for those who believe."

Wow! Bravo! Inspirational quote isn't it? We try to remind ourselves with that positive energy everyday. We believed positive attitude will lead the way to reach our dream.

But, it is a cruel world out there...

“Dreams are like stars...you may never touch them, but if you follow them they will lead you to your destiny.”

Does this mean we are giving up on our dream when we start to believe on a different destiny? Well, I guess, there is no wrong answer for this question. We gotta do what we gotta do. For the love of flying. I don't know about you, but I know, I don't have other destiny. No matter how impossible it seems since day one, I'll never let go. I'm holding on! Yiehaaa! :) Furthermore, I have to stop cursing "Lucky son of a *****!" every time I heard a flight soaring proudly in the sky. Ops! Sorry Capt. Positive jealousy. Hihihi. We, on the ground, couldn't help ourselves to look up into the sky when you, the big guy passing us by...our heart beat will become faster...hmm...can't explain anymore...wishing to be in your shoes...

So why do I wanna become a pilot? When I fly, my heart and soul are working perfectly together. I'm content. Who ever had the chance to fly on their own understand what I'm talking about. The feeling of cheating the gravity is beyond word. When I did my 1st landing...Wow! Felt so alive! After that episode, you will challenge yourself to make a perfect landing in no matter what condition. One will be pushed to the limit for every second is crucial during a flight. The adrenaline rush never stop! The spin, the spiral, the emergency landing, the precision 180 and etc. The brain will be trained to process a lots of information (Yup! Don't need Sodoku anymore! Hihihi). Eyes and ears will capture latest situation for hands and feet to execute the precise command to fly the flight safely. Things can be a bit overwhelming when entering a busy airport or a control zones. Experience tells a person what to do and confidence allows him / her to do it. Good judgment comes from experience and practice. A very important tool that will become One best friend whenever facing some intense moment in a flight. Every flight has it own story to tell. I love the challenge! Big power comes with big responsibility. With that in mind, One is forced to be better everyday. Since my 1st flight, I have becoming the better Me both in flying and as a person. After my 1st flight, I knew, "This is it! I'm a high flyer and will always be!". What's the point of living if we can't do what we love the most?

All of us, the pilot wanna be, will never back down. All of us has fall in love with the plane, the uniform and the responsibility behind the control. We love to go from one point to another point around the globe, updating our logbook, seeing places...collecting beautiful scenery in our memory from the cockpit. Yes, of course, we are the aspiration to others in that uniform. Waking up everyday and being able to fly and being paid for it, is a blessing that we always pray for.

Life is just like a plane cycle. We depart...we cruise...we land. Both are influence by so many forces and situations that will result in what kind of ride we gonna have. When facing a rough ride, we as a human being are program to put on our best knowledge and discipline to fly through it. Hope, faith, family and friends will keep us stronger to our destination.

MY DEPARTURE EPISODE! "Singing...I'm leaving on a jet plane :p..."
I could not explain why, how or when it started, but my heart has been in love with flying since I was a kid. Wondering how in the world is that big heavy metal bird is able to lift herself in a medium that is lighter than herself! A fantastic machine ever invented!

KAPIT TOWN

Growing up in a rural area, with limited exposure, I have no clue on on how to pursue it. Kapit is the 7th division in Sarawak. This small quiet town is connected to the other division by Sungai Rejang.

THE AIRPORT

It has a small airport, but as far as I remember, no flights were found departing or arriving from it. I grew up knowing it as an airport, but Kapitans has been using it as their jogging track!! Some even growing corns beside the runway!! I guess we are so used to travel via our beloved Sungai Rejang. With not much exposure on how I could go for pilot training course, I was clueless. So, I followed the rest of the world after my SPM. I went to university. I took Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering at Universiti Putra Malaysia. Yup! No more wondering on how the biggest jumbo jet, (at that time) the Boeing 744, with it MTOW of about 437 tons is able to do what it does best! Fly! The flight that I took on the 13th of June 1999 to attend my university year, was my 1st time being on board an aircraft. It was Boeing 734. I was so excited I didn't sleep at all before the flight that night because I couldn't stop thinking about what's gonna happen the next day. Everything was so fresh in my memory. Every event on that trip was so precious. I even counted how many second it took to roll before it actually airborne! It was about 24 seconds! I sat on the right side of the aisle beside the window. The view of the Twin Tower and Kuala Lumpur city was so beautiful that day.

THE CRUISING EPISODE! "Navigating my life for the love of flying"
Graduated September 2004, I was offered a job by Tentera Udara Diraja Malaysia and Malaysia Airlines. In March 2005, I started to work as Technical Services Engineer with MAS. I gave it all up almost 3 years later because deep inside me, I still wanna be a pilot and will always be. I resigned from MAS at the end of 2007. I went to Canada to pursue my dream. The company who took me and 4 other Malaysians will engage us with an airline after completing the course. Wowwee! Yay! So, there I was flying around Canada for 1 year. I was on the way to complete my CPL. I did my CPL written exam and I was left with only to do another 39 hours and a flight test. Until that day came. The fairy tale came to an end when the company went bankrupt and the boss ran away with the money and leaving us in darkness. So, please...I would like to advice anyone who wanna go overseas for a flight training. Think carefully of what gonna happen after completing the course. It's not easy to get a pilot job overseas for newbies plus we have to compete with the locals. To come back and fly in Malaysia an extra money need to be located for the license conversion.

I went back to Malaysia end of February 2009. I ran out of tears and devastated for what had took place in my life. It seems like the whole world is falling apart and I was the only survivor. I know with just a PPL from foreign country, I have nothing to offer here. My hours are not recognized by DCA. But, I still keep on saying to myself I will never back down in this battle. One day, I picked up a bit and pieces of myself and started surfing with my Celcom Broadband that I just purchased. My eyes were shining with this new hope when I saw the advertisement online, SO YOU WANNA BE A PILOT?! Oh yea!!! So, I started typing and drafting my blog like all the others! I never did any blog before! Yea, I know, where have I been?! Duh! The whole world is blogging! Ahahaha. This is my first trial. Thanks to all my bestest buddies for giving me a hand to produce this blog and the video....MY FAMILY for supporting this passion of mine.

THE APPROACHING TO LAND EPISODE...???

Anything can happen in AirAsia. Everything is possible here. Yup! Now, the world is listening...everyone can fly...

"When One feel vulnerable and isolated from everyone, and convinced will never find a way out. A bit of hope will help to wash away some of the negative thoughts".

Thanks for opening up this golden opportunity to us. It meant a lot. Future is always a mystery. I might be shortlisted I might not. I might be one of the top ten or I might not. I will take every chances that come in front of me to make this LAND. I'm cursed with this passion. Pilot is what I will always wanna become. Good luck everyone! Don't ever back down...

This story will definitely keep us motivated and keep on going to achieve our goal, that is to be a PILOT. So now, the impossible is now possible. Hope you pilot wannabe and me too can fly one day in the sky..

AirAsia - Harlem Shake PIDC

Hello guys, the initiator of harlem shake on the right is one of my friend, my junior schoolmates from SMKBJ actually and it was done in AirAsia flight! The first i reaction when i saw this video is like ''Oh my god, is it them? in AirAsia? is it real? like seriously?'' , oh man i respect them for being too 'hati kering' and the guys and girls on the plane. Respect also to the crew for giving them a chance to do the harlem shake. I think it is A-320 plane by looking at the seats formation and colours of the leather. Great job to PIDC members!

Maybe this is the reason why you want to be a pilot in AirAsia? Serious yet sportive.

Pilot Completes World's Shortest Flight for Last Time

Loganair’s Stuart Linklater has flown the famously brief route between Westray and Papa Westray in Orkney more than 12,000 times in 24 years.

The distance between the two locations stands at slightly more than a mile and can be travelled in as little as 47 seconds, depending on the direction of the wind.

The flight between Westray and Papa Westray is currently priced at £21 return, making it perhaps the most expensive flight in the world in terms of cost per mile.

Loganair has been running the route since the start of its Scottish inter-island service in 1967, while Mr Linklater, 59, joined the airline in 1988.
“I've thoroughly enjoyed my time on the Orkney Inter-Isle Service and have worked with and carried so many interesting people in the last 24 years,” said Mr Linklater. "Flying in some of the most challenging weather conditions in Scotland means I've had my fair share of turbulence over the years, but I've enjoyed every minute of it.”
The Orkney Inter-Isle Service, a Public Service Obligation contract funded by Orkney Islands Council, was retained by Loganair in January.

A lifeline to those on the islands and the Orkney mainland, Loganair will provide these services until 2016 with the option to extend the contract by a further 12 months.

At the other end of the spectrum, the world’s longest non-stop schduled flight, an 18-hour 9,500-mile route between Singapore and Los Angeles on Singapore Airlines, is expected to stop at the end of this year.

The airline is thought to have struggled to make the routes profitable, with rising fuel costs and the current economic climate meaning passengers were unwilling to pay premium prices.

Bird Strike on British Airways Plane

Eye witnesses on the ground described seeing the plane fly overhead with smoke billowing out of one of its engines

Passengers on board a British Airways plane forced to make an emergency landing at Heathrow praised the pilot's swift and "calm" actions in bringing an aircraft down safely after an engine caught fire.

Eye witnesses on the ground described seeing the plane fly overhead with smoke billowing out of one of its engines

The airbus A319, bound for Oslo, left London shortly before 8am and was on its ascent when loud "popping" sounds were heard and the engines caught fire.

Having taken off to the west, the pilot had to divert back to Heathrow, taking a flight path across central London.

Eye witnesses on the ground described seeing the plane fly overhead with smoke billowing out of one of its engines.

It was the most serious incident at Heathrow since January 2008 when another BA aircraft, a Boeing 777 crash-landed at the airport after both its engines failed as it approached the airport at the end of a flight from Beijing.

David Gallagher, CEO of PR company Ketchum, who was among the 75 passengers on board the Oslo flight, said they realised something was awry within 10 minutes of take-off.

"We heard this loud popping sound to one side of the plane," he told The Daily Telegraph. "I was sitting on the left and could see that the engine had blown its cover.
"People sitting on the other side realised that the same thing had happened there too. It was certainly rather alarming but the cabin crew remained completely calm and the captain spoke to us over the tannoy.
“He said he was aware there was an issue and would be running some tests but that things were fine.
"Then we realised that the right engine was on fire, there was lots of smoke. It triggered a lot of anxiety, there were a few people who were very upset. The plane was about three quarters full so the people sitting near the engine moved away. "
Mr Gallagher, who had been en route to Norway for a business meeting, said the crew were 'fantastic' and completely unflappable, despite the growing panic.
"The captain came back on and said we would be returning to London. He said it might be a tough landing but it wasn't at all. It was completely smooth.
"The emergency evacuation was exactly like they say it will be in the safety demo. We were brought off the plane very quickly and came down the slides.
"You never think you'll have to do that, it was pretty scary. I could see that the engine was still on fire. We were only in the air for 20 minutes but it felt like an hour."
The BA plane after the emergency landing (PA)

Meanwhile terrified onlookers on the ground spoke of their terror at seeing an aircraft above them with its engine on fire.
"The actual engine itself was on fire,” Clive Cook, who lives under the flight path, told Sky News.
"This plane was coming over and suddenly the tone of the engine changed dramatically, and I could almost say it sounded as if it was like a blowout, or an explosion. I'm absolutely certain that as it came through the clouds, and I looked up.The right engine was on fire, it wasn't smoking, it was actually on fire."
As an inquiry into the incident launched by the Air Accidents Investigation Branch is expected to focus on why the casing on the engines were shorn off as well as why the right engine burst into flames.

Some experts suggested one of the engines may have suffered a bird strike but this was discounted by pilots last night.

Others believe the inquiry will focus on the maintenance of the aircraft which is understood to have undergone a weekly inspection within hours of the flight.

Yet another historical milestone was made on May 14 when Captain James Anthony Tan broke multiple records, be it at national, regional and international level, following his success in completing his flight around the world. The 21 year old pilot had completed a 48-day solo flight across 20 country with his Cessna P210 Silver Eagle single engine aircraft, named Spirit of Malaysia.
25
Throughout his mission, the young pilot had encountered several dangerous situation including part of his engine froze when he flew over Alaska and he faced difficulty when flying through a storm en route to Japan from Taiwan. Nevertheless, the strong will youth had pressed on with his endeavor and so had managed to break two Guinness Book of Records, the World Aviation Academy as well as the Malaysia Book of Records.

With his current feat, Captain Tan is the youngest pilot ever conducting solo flight around the world in the fastest period of time. He is also the first Malaysian who had successfully flew around the world as well as the first from ASEAN to do so. Last year, Captain Tan was also inducted into the Malaysia Book of Records for the 13,000 nautical miles expedition from the UK to Bangkok and back.
The previous world record for the youngest pilot ever attempting a round the world solo flight was on July 11, 2012 by 22 years old Swiss, Captain Carlo Shmidt who had completed his flight in 80 days.
Tan left Langkawi on March 28 during LIMA 2013 and flown 21,103 nautical miles (39,083 km) around the world before making a short stop at Alor Setar AFB. From there, his piston engine aircraft flew to his final destination, the Subang AFB accompanied by three RMAF PC-7Mk II turboprop trainers from PULATIBANG I flown by six RMAF instructor pilots including two female pilots.

In his speech, the Prime Minister said that Malaysian youth can achieve great success by doing something outstanding with their lives and stepping out of their comfort zones.
He also said the country’s progress depended on this spirit of competitiveness, which was something youth could strive to achieve.
“I hope youth would not accept the status quo or the norm. They should ask themselves: ‘what can I do? Can I do something better?’
“Our success as a nation depends on the spirit of competitiveness and desire to try things that other people have not achieved,”
“We have many Malaysians who have accomplished extraordinary feats, and today we are proud to say that Capt James is one more Malaysian who can inspire and offer something special,” said Najib.
The 1Malaysia Round The World (1RTW) program with its “1Malaysia 1Dream 1Flight Around The World” theme was organised by the Malaysian Youth Pilot association and Malaysian FELDA Youth Council in partnership with 1Malaysia For Youth (1M4U). The program is also supported by the Tourism Malaysia which has provided warm welcome at major stops in Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, Japan, Canada, the US, the UK, France, Italy and Jordan.
Through its overseas offices and in collaboration with the Malaysian embassies and high commissions, Tourism Malaysia has organised press congerences and interviews to generate publicity. Captain Tan has become an unofficial tourism ambassador for Malaysia as his Spirit of Malaysia aircraft bears the Visit Malaysia Year 2014 (VMY 2014) logo around the world.
7
During his stop in the United States, the Malaysian pilot had received New York City Special Proclamation Award by the New York City Comptroller, John C. Liu. He also received the New York State Procalamation Award from Senator Martin Golden who praised the young pilot’s passion for flying and overcoming life’s hurdles.
Of course some of you jealous of him, yeah being sponsored by the Government of Malaysia. Who doesn't? One does not simply fly alone the whole world with their own money. However, we all proud of him for doing such an epic journey. Actually, flying is also considered an extreme sports with all the tense of getting the world record. hehe  I wonder they give 'Dato' title to him. 'Capt. Dato James Tan' ! All the best Capt James Tan!

Jauh Perjalanan, Luas Pandangan.

Masa takkan pernah tunggu kita, masa takkan pernah pancung kita. Lebih lebih tu pandai pandai lah pikir.

"WHY YOU WANT TO BE A PILOT?"
Soalan paling basic dan paling wajib akan ditanyakan semasa interview dengan AirAsia baru-baru ni, ni pun korek dari member, member aku jawab, 'Jauh Perjalanan Luas Pandangan', pehh masuk terus! Captain tu cakap, 'wahh lu manyak manguih ahh, lai lai!', MEMANG TAK DAPAT kalau ayat power tapi buat muka sekupang, reaction pun takde, passion pun hilang sebab tengok awek kat luar tadi masa tunggu interview. Mana taknye beb, pakai skirt pendek sampai atas lutut, lebih lebih lagi bila on the way ke bilik interview, lalu pulak dekat dengan diorang yang interview stewardess, ngancam beb, mekap macam Firaun Hatshepshut, rezeki melimpah ruah masa tu macam kokokrunch. Masa tu lah hilang semua point-point nak lepas interview. Ingat bukan ko sorang yang bersaing tapi banyak lagi orang,

First stage Airasia tu banyak orang kata senang, ye memang senang untuk diorang yang baru lepas habis spm, segala atom-atomlah, half life lah, principle fizik lah masih lagi tertanam dekat otak tu, tak macam orang lain, umur 25+ ni, malas beb nak baca buku spm. Sapa tak malas? When there's a will, there's a way.

Kadang-kadang, walaupun kita dah ada lesen juruterbang, tak semestinya kita jadi juruterbang 24 jam, macam member aku, dia bukak satu syarikat chartered flights and transportation.

Jumpa anda disana!

Aviation Medical Class 1 - How it looks?

$

Assalamualaikum, maybe some of you guys wondering how did the aviation medical went through, how it looks like? is it promising? or is it just wasting money and then you fail to get class 1?

At first i felt like, "please let me pass this God, after while you help me all this time and now you're going to fail my aviation medical??"No not really like that, that's too hyperbolic. haha but actually aviation medical class 1 is the first thing you have to do before becoming an airline pilot. How did i know this?  because pilots said so.

Let us go through what I've been through,

1. Eye Test
The most complicated test throughout this checkup! Since i never check my eye power and astigmatism, they urge me to go to THONEH(Tun Hussein Onn National Eye Hospital), and i was like wtf? Remember one of my indian friends name Thanesh. haha, It was located in the middle of the city btw! Big thanx to the people who invented the GPS. It helps alot!

The first stage of eye test is the Vision Test, where there are big alphabets to small alphabets and that time i cannot read the smallest alphabets. The second stage is where they check your true power and astigmatism/glare something like that, you will be given a spectacle. After that, they will put some yellow solution into your eyes, for i don't know what reasons. haha there will be also Ishihara's Eye test. Don't be fooled, there will be some plates with NO numbers at all. Be careful!

2. X-Ray
Simple checkup on your upper body. If your rib cage or bones got fractured, say bye bye to class 1.

3. Urine Test
If you take drugs, then you're fucked up. Did you remember the movie Flight? Where the captain take drugs and he was very alcoholic, he fly a commercial airplane upside down! By the way, it was just a m
ovie, and real pilots laugh at it.

4. Ear Test
You'll be sitting in a small box and your ear will be tested to the limits. Remember don't press the button if you didn't hear the beep!

5. Heart Pressure Test
Its all up to your body!

6. Blood Test
The doctor suck my blood for one full syringe and that time i feel like zombie, my hands hardly move and it was kinda dizzy. Anyway i passed! I don't know what the doctor did to my blood.

7. Electrocardiogram (ECG)
ECG is a test that checks for problems with the electrical activity of your heart. For example, to find the cause of unexplained chest pain, which could be caused by a heart attack, inflammation of the sac surrounding the heart (pericarditis), or angina. One of my friends said that visceral fat can make ECG test to fail, thus no class 1 certificate will be given. So, get fit and workout!

So, you should get the certificate something like this. My glare is way on top of the mountains!

Final Year UTHM 2013/2014

Assalamualaikum, semester ni semester last aku. Tapi aku tak graduate lagi! Kredit yang aku bawak 20/21 so mana-mana yang tahu tu, beban betul nak menanggung kredit yang banyak ni. betul tak? Mungkin sebelum ni aku tak pernah merasai macam mana nak lalui course fast track ni, haa ambik kau. Dah terhantuk baru nak tengadah.

I know deep inside their heart, by hook or by crook they want to be a pilot. termasuklah aku. wakakak

Tinggal 2 bulan lagi sebelum semuanya ke flying school, mungkin? Ye tak semua akan masuk disebabkan DCA sekarang ni dah hadkan kemasukan ke mana-mana flying school, tak silap aku 25 person per batch. That's mean 25 person per year! If i'm not mistaken lah kan.

Pilots fly airplanes and helicopters to do many jobs. Most pilots fly people and cargo from place to place. Some pilots test new planes, fight fires, do police work, or rescue people who are hurt or in danger. Before they take off, pilots plan their flight carefully. They check their plane to make sure that it is working properly. They also make sure that baggage or cargo has been loaded correctly. They check the weather forecast to see if they will run into any bad weather on their trip. They then decide what route they should take, and how high and fast they should fly. Takeoff and landing are often challenging and require a great deal of piloting skill. As a result, pilots must be especially careful during those times. The rest of the flight can be fairly easy if the weather is good because planes have computers and other gauges to tell pilots if their trip is going according to plan. These gauges show whether there is enough fuel, whether the weather is changing, and whether the plane is on course. Pilots must check monitor these gauges at all times during the flight to be sure that all is going well. If problems come up, the pilots must quickly take steps to solve them. The law says that pilots who work for an airline cannot fly more than 100 hours a month or more than 1,000 hours a year. Most airline pilots fly about 75 hours a month, and work another 75 hours a month at other parts of the job. When they are flying, airline pilots often stay away from home overnight. Airlines have flights at all hours of the day and night. This means that airline pilots are often asked to work odd hours. Pilots who do not work for the airlines can have unusual work schedules, too. For example, they may fly 30 hours one month and 90 hours the next. Most of them do not have to stay away from home overnight, but they may have to work odd hours. Pilots who fly very long distances may have “jet lag.” This is fatigue caused by moving through different time zones. The work of pilots who test new planes may be dangerous. Pilots who work on farms or who help police and firefighters also might get hurt on their jobs. Flying does not involve physical work. However, pilots can feel a lot of stress because they know that they are responsible for the safety of their passengers. They must be careful and quick to react if something goes wrong.

What's up 2014!

Mati ditelan diri

Malindo aku taktau plak, sebab takde kawan kat situ. Tapi based on common sense lah kan, malindo aku rasa dia akan ambik orang yang ada hours yang banyak sebab syarikat baru kan, takkan lah diorang nak ambik masa untuk train cadet baru. Wallahua'lam.

APFT - Ground School #1

Assalamualaikum,

Dah lama aku tinggal blog ni, cuma ada masa reply comment je and finding the funds to pursue my career. More than 200k jugak kena bayar. Hoping for the best!

Sekarang aku dalam Batch 71. Half of the batch dari UTHM. takdelah awkward sangat. So from what i see most of the cadets here are from rich people, people that can afford to pay the fees on their own. Every single lecture the instructor teach us, we will appreciate every each and one of the knowledge given. Because we are the unfortunate ones but God gives us a chance to see whether we're qualify or not to become a pilot.

PPL is easy they said, yeah because the test were given by the APFT instructors. Tapi kalau tak study apa guna betoi dak? Tak kira dekat mana pun, kalau study untuk lepas exam memang akan lupa lepas tu. Nak gambar? takde ah weh sebab botak sekarang. haha

Life here is great, the food is awesome, the accommodation is well maintained and the list goes on. Tapi ape yang aku tak sabar, nak fly je. tu je matlamat aku sebab i will never gonna stop until i touch the sky.  So kalau yang tak mampu nak bayar sampai habis, just get the PPL, dalam 30k je and just only 45 hours! Goodluck!

Am i Fit to Fly?

$

Before each flight you must ask yourself, “Am I fit to fly? Do I feel well? Am I able to perform the physical and mental tasks that may be required of me as pilot-in-command?”

As a pilot, you should maintain a reasonable degree of physical fitness. It allows better physical and mental performance during flight and in the long term, and quite apart from flying, improves your chances of a long and healthy life.

Keeping fit takes some effort, and this effort must be continuous for fitness to be retained, but It can also be good fun and very recreational. Walking, jogging, playing sports, cycling, swimming, in fact anything that steadily raises your pulse rate will improve your fitness. But beware any of these activities such as playing futsal may be dangerous to your health for instance you may be fracture in any part of your lower torso and you are not able to fly anymore. I’ve seen one guy, he is mentally fit and physically fit but as the result of fracture of his foot fingers, he cannot push the rudder pedal! Going to the gym is more preferable in my opinion, not only your legs getting better but you can perform more in your marriage! LOL Remember one does not simply skip leg day.

Mental fitness is a fitness regarding to your brain and consciousness, anything related to dysfunction of the brain should be avoided. For example, drugs, alcohol, stress, family problems, lack of sleep should be avoided at any costs. In the paper, smoking can cause blurry vision, night degradation and the list will never stop! Do you actually need to stop smoking if you are going to be a pilot? Nahh! I’m a smoker too and I didn’t find it dangerous. This is because, you have to keep fit every day to counter the smoking effects! I’m not encouraging you to smoke but it’s your body, so “YOU HAVE CONTROL”.

Aku punya English bukan top notch. So paham-paham lah. Lagi pun in aviation ni, kau tak payah belajar English for communication, but English for aviation purpose.

Kalau susah sangat, tambah 20 lepas tu tolak 2.

Runway 32 Right (KLIA)

Contoh lain
  • Runway 9 (Start with 09, add 2 to the first digit, and subtract 2 from the second digit) Result is 27
  • Runway 27 (Subtract 2 from the first digit, and add 2 to the second digit) Result is 09 or Runway 9
  • Runway 30 (Subtract 2 from the first digit, and add 2 to the second digit) Result is 12
  • Runway 33 (Subtract 2 from the first digit, and add 2 to the second digit) Result is 15
  • Runway 10 (This is a tricky one. If we subtract 2 from either digit, we will have a negative result) This is an exception, and you may want to use the old school math of adding 180 degrees for a result of Runway 28)
  • Runway 15 (Add 2 to the first digit, and subtract 2 from the second digit) Result is 33

Student pilot crash lands into a ditch

Grounded: The Piper PA28-161 aircraft lying in the ditch at the Senai International Airport after the crash in Johor Baru.

JOHOR BARU: A student pilot, who was flying solo, escaped with injuries after his aircraft crashed into a ditch during landing at the Senai International Airport.

It is believed that the student was doing training manoeuvres after his four-seater Piper PA28-161 aircraft was cleared to land together with another aircraft belonging to a flying club.

“The first plane landed safely. But when this aircraft touched down, somehow the pilot lost control and it veered into a ditch beside the runway,” an airport official said, adding that four aircraft were taking turns to land during that period.

He said the third and fourth aircraft landed safely, adding that the crash did not disrupt airport operations.

The student pilot, in his 20s, was sent to the Kulai Hospital for injuries to his face and body at 2pm on Saturday.

One of those who rushed over to help him said the pilot was already brought out of the plane by the time he got to the scene.

“I immediately sent him to the hospital for treatment,” he said, declining to reveal further.

It is learnt that the Department of Civil Aviation has been told about the crash.

The last incident involving this flying club happend five years ago when a bank officer spent six hours trapped in a wreckage of a two-seater Cessna before rescuers found him in the Gunung Pulai forest reserve.

My First Solo Flight - APFT

APFT Kota Bharu Hangar

When I opened up my blog, I was like, wtf happen here? Did someone diededed? It was like a ghost town, everything messed up, and it will take some time to repair all these things. Be patient.

“No one has ever collided with the sky”, Yeah it’s true, and the feeling of flying an aircraft is freaking amazing. The wind blowing under the feet, and yes I finally touch the cloud! By extending my hand through the storm window while flying through it! It is not a solid matter but it is cold, but not too cold like in a fridge though. It’s not a big deal anyway.

Ipoh Parade

Parit-Beruas TA

Gopeng-Kampar TA

Anyway, I just flown for total of 14 hours, and it is really fun and my dreams are almost realized. Insyallah! Before this they were 2 detachment, one in Ipoh and the other one in Terengganu and the main base in Kelantan, but Terengganu is closed due to some reason that I don’t know of. They said flying at Terengganu is much more fun and enjoyable than Ipoh and Kelantan. They said. And now I’m at Ipoh Detachment doing my PPL phase using the old ITNS dispersal area to park our aircrafts.

Life as a cadet pilot is damn cool! The feeling of controlling the aircraft alone is more fun than eating. Well food should be number 1 on the list, but now flying takes its place! LOL. I wonder how it feel to fly a turbine engine airplane, but I met this one guy, a helicopter instructor, he has been flying around 20 years as a helicopter pilot, flying at the Gulf, Canada, USA, Middle East, Vietnam and the list goes on. What’s best flying a helicopter? YOU CAN LAND ANYWHERE! Yeah I’ve been thinking maybe after 10-15 years of flying with airlines, I’m gonna get that helicopter license!

Anyway I've done my first solo flight here in Ipoh Airfield on 6th of February. How does it feel? The best of my life! But I didn't do the “Look Mom! No hands!” yet, cause it is my first solo flight! I’m not gonna jeopardize my life if a sudden gust wind hits me. Yeah, I love this line of work, it motivates me every day! If the Wright’s Brothers didn't make a move, I don’t know what I’m doing right now around this time. Haha. Well, if you got some money to spare on, take a pilot license, PPL is enough and join a flying club! Remember, it’s never too late!

I've uploaded a video on YouTube of my first solo flight, hoping to inspire you guys! Don’t lose your hope on aviation if you didn't have the chance right now, like my father told me when I was just a child, he said one day he’ll leave this world behind, so live a life you will remember, and when there’s a will there’s a way one day, never let the chances slip away. Take care Dad!

So, if any of you guys want to see my first solo flight, you can watch it below, hope you'll be motivated by my video. WATCH IN 720P HD atleast ok?

Completed My Private Pilot's License (PPL) Training!

There’s been thousands of us out there, as a Licensed Private Pilot. Each and every one of them have their own stories, including me. Let me take you on my adventure, before I forgot! haha

Well it started when I was a kid. Everybody’s is like that isn't it?  It began when I'm dreaming about it, one day being up there with other planes and birds, just buzzing around in those fluffy cotton bud clouds. Even though it’s majestic as it looks, but it’s damn dangerous to fly with birds and clouds. I almost got hit with a bird while taking off the runway! You might end up forced landing if the birds hit your propeller.

That dream came true in April of 2015 thanks to my family and my best friend that have supported me throughout the training period in getting my Private Pilot’s License (PPL).

A lot of them came up straight to the academy after they graduated from high school, while I’m doing some stupid things learning biology in my matriculation stage. Then things got serious, I went to university to complete my bachelor degree in aeronautics. Now I’m here at Asia Pacific Flight Training (APFT) doing my CPL/IR.

Flying with Piper 28-161 Warrior 3 its fun but a little bit pricey when compare with a Cessna 172 or 152. However, the aircraft here are not maintained properly, rust here and there, when it rains, there’s a pool under your feet, I think a guppy fish can live there. I did my 1 hour introduction to flying at Kota Bharu Airport and the rest at Ipoh Airport. I love flying in Ipoh, the training area here is freaking huge! You can eat 3 slice of bread on cruising speed while still within the boundaries. To be honest, there’s a lot of memories here though that I can’t write it all up here.

Completing my first solo flight was not hard as it looks but there’s certain part of it I was afraid, when I’m doing my checklist, I did everything 2 times to make sure everything in GREEN SECTOR! As a pilot, you have to remain calm. Nearly shit in my pants during the approach. Here, take a look of my first solo flight.

If you really understand the procedure, RT calls, piece of cake I would say. However, they said my flying skills will develop the more hours I gain. Well I have to say, I suck at flying at first few hours, now I’m getting better day by day. Hopefully.

I flew with quite a number of instructors in APFT, and they all got different ways to teaching me how to fly. Some told me to do this, and when I do like that with other instructor, got scold “Fuck, what are you doing? You wanna kill me?” and my reply was “Oh roger sir, sorry sir” LOL.

It will be a long journey though, next I will be doing my CPL flying then taking the EASA papers. Hopefully all is well. I’m now one of them, Private Pilot’s License Holder. Yay me!

Now, who wanna fly with me?

Sama. Alarm kedua menunjukkan jam 6:45, Shit! Gua terlambat, gua terlambat nak nyanyi lagu harian gua.

"Bangun pagi. Gosok gigi. Cuci muka. Pergi berak. Minum Kopi. Isap Rokok. Pergi sekolah. Senang hati"

Sama, Rutin harian di sini kembali mekar tak macam di Ipoh dulu. Masuk kelas study, balik kelas study, malam study. Nak senang kena lah susah dulu, nak hensem kena hodoh dulu, nak jadi pilot kena la ade duit nak bayar lesen dulu. duhh

Sama.

Mentaliti kelas bawahan. Sedih tapi benar.

Sama.
